Who is leading you into All Truth? Part 3

In starting this series lets realize that The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth.
Most every Christian I know would acknowledge this.
We will also explore why we have so many different truths out there.
Is The Holy Spirit leading people into different directions?
Of course not.
So what's wrong?
Why do so many different Christians believe so many different things?
We will explore this plus some current trends and folks that are leading you a different way.
Lets start here though.
John 3:30-36 out of the mouth of Jesus' own cousin John the Baptist inspired by The Holy Spirit.
"30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.
32 And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony.
33 He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true.
34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.
35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand.
36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

So first, we learn that we must decrease.
That means putting our own agenda's aside and finding out what God wants us to do not man or our own purpose driven agenda.
That's the first way we find out the real truth of scripture.
We learn the truth of scripture when we are totally submitted to the Holy Spirit.
We learn the truth of scripture when we are not using scripture to win a fight or to sell a book.
And its a hard thing to do and that's exactly why we have so many so-called truths out there.

Lets look at Christian books sales.
Christian Books
2002 sales of books and products through all channels: just under $4.2 billion, up from $4 billion in 2000. $2.4 billion sold through Christian retail outlets; $1.1 billion through general retail; and $725 million through direct-to-consumer ministry channels. First 6 months of 2003: CBA member store sales were down 2%. Books increased 8%, Bibles increased 2% but music and gifts decreased 9%. --Christian Booksellers Association reported in Publishers Weekly, August 4, 2003 http://www.PublishersWeekly.com

Nice big chunk of change to be made out there.

So the first problem is that we may have a certain agenda and the Holy Spirit does not work that way so instead we find scripture to prove a point.
And even unbelievers who have zero of The Holy Spirit can do that.
I also believe that a unbeliever could write a best selling Christian book, and has, so we need to be careful of what we read.

Second problem is we may not even be seeking the truth by looking in the ONLY source of truth the BIBLE.
There is no other truth outside the Bible.
No new revelations.
And other religions don't offer some truths.
The ONLY words of LIFE are written in scripture.
But seeking the truth of scripture in our lives through other sources like teachers or authors, will that lead us into all truth?
Problem there.
Some rightly divide the word of God-some do not.
And I really have nothing against reading devotionals or Christian books.
I love Utmost to His Highest by Oswald Chambers.
I also like Max Lucado in the early days, and even some CS Lewis.
However I am not going to let Max, Oswald, or Clive lead me into all truth.
The only source of truth is my Bible, and the only One who can possibly lead me into all truth is the Holy Spirit who I received in full upon salvation through Jesus Christ.
And the Holy Spirit can only lead me into all truth if I don't get in the way.
Your ambition, ego, anger, agenda, business marketing plan, church bottom line and even desire to make a difference and being zealous for the Lord plus many other factors can distort the truth that The Holy Spirit wants to lead you into.
You really need to re-evaluate what truth you are getting and the source.
You need to become less so He can become more.
If you want TRUTH, get it from THE BOOK(The Bible) not a book.

Next article-
Lets examine our teachers and the way our current system of church operates.
I would also encourage you to examine all I write under the light of scripture.
If it doesn't add up I would thoroughly encourage you to reject it.

Good post. I am doing a series of aritcles on Theology. They both are centering on the same thing, I believe, but they both need to be said. Good job.
