The Message of the Cross
Why is the message of the cross foolishness to those that are perishing (1 Corinthians 1:18)? God made foolishness the wisdom of this world which the unsaved seem to relish in. In fact, we seek out almost every form of intelligence but God. How are those in the world supposed to relate to God? "Thus says the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom; Let not the mighty man glory in his might; Nor let the rich man glory in his riches. But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me"- Jeremiah 9:23-24.
The whole goal of this life is to get to know God and Jesus. "This IS eternal life, that they may know Me, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent"- John 17:3. "But God forbide that I should glory EXCEPT in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me and I to the world"- Galatians 6:14. You see, the world does not want to be crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20) because they want to live rather than on having Christ live THROUGH them.
I would like to ask the unsaved two questions and we shall await their answers. "What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in EXCHANGE for his soul?"- Mark 8:36-37.

Great article Dave. The interesting thing is the same verses you used have been the last course of study I have been in with scripture and I was just getting ready to write a article on the same topic.
Glad you beat me to it.
Good job.
