The Da Vinci Code versus The Passion of The Christ fact or fiction
I have got to say I have been a fan of Mel Gibson's for a long time. I like the fact that he shows the characters he plays are often men of faith such as in movie like "The Patriot" and "Braveheart." So when I heard Mel was going to make a movie about Jesus I was quite excited to see it. And after seeing how many other Christians came on board I anticipated the movie release with great wonder.
Then I went and saw the movie.
Im not going to do a review here but Mel inserted many myths and as a Catholic would put Mary up on a pedestal where she does not belong.
I was very disappointed and concerned that a undiscerning Christian would perhaps take the fiction as fact in The Passion.
What was even more disappointing was very few Christians choose to speak out against Mel "adding to the gospel."
But in the current state of the church we have nothing but hirelings running the show who are only interested in making a buck.
Now am I suggesting you go and see "The Da Vinci Code" movie?
absolutely not.
I would suggest you read up on church history.
Many think the Catholic Church originated Christianity.
Thats a lie in The Da Vinci Code.
And its also a lie from the Catholic church.
I would suggest you read some of the writings of the early church fathers who were not Catholic such as Clement etc..
They agreed Jesus was God before the council of Nicea.
Tim Challis also has a interesting view on these two movies.
I recommend you read this article

I agree totally. Gibson's movie elevated Mary but then should that come as any surprise as so did the late Pope. Even he mentioned that he revered Mary perhaps a bit too much. The DaVinci Code is a film of fantasy but so many people take it as history when it is not. Opie made a dopey film.
