Dominionism and Reconstructionist-God and government

I want to share my heart as I write this and be very open. I have supported the Republican part for many years with my time and sometimes money.
I have come to this conclusion.
God and government dont mix.
Dont get me wrong my family prays for this countries leadership whether it be a Bush or Clinton.
I just dont think you can fix the current system we have in Washington.
This doesn't mean Im going over to the Democrats either.
It makes me ill to hear Nancy Pelousi quote scripture because I dont believe she is sincere.
Im just tired of being played folks.
The Republicans have been in control for over 8 years now have their been less babies killed through abortions?
No.
Have we become a more moral nation?
No we have gotten progressively worse-turn on your TV's or go to a movie someone is buying this stuff.
Look at history as well.
It didnt work for Constantine or John Calvin in setting up a theocracy merging church with state.
Our own leadership who founded this country warned against it.
So what makes us think it will work now.
In voting and going to the polls the past years I have had to choose on voting for the lesser evil.
Voting for evil even if it is still lesser still makes it evil.
Im not voting this year.
The system we have in place does not allow even well intentioned new leaders to express themselves.
They have to play the Washington game or not play at all.
Im tired of games.
People dont need a Christian Worldview heck even unbelievers can agree and have the same worldview Christians have.
Unbelievers need Jesus.
What did Jesus have to say about government?
Very little.
Jesus said His kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36)
So why do we keep trying to make this world Jesus' kingdom?
Maybe the ones preaching this dont have anything to look forward to in eternity.
Jesus stated in Matt 21 "render therfore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God.
We should all be good citizens and pay our taxes but we should stop trying to make America Christian.
Its not.
Jesus's kingdom is where?
I think we should stand up for our rights while we still can.
But Im turning off James Dobson and focus on my family.
Never turn on Pat Robertson so thats a given.
As for all those other big daddies playing with the government.
Let em.
If guys like Rick Warren and Rod Parsley can have the ear of President Bush.
We really need to pray for President Bush.
I think what the government should do is take away all tax exempt status from churches.
This is way out of hand and abused by many churches.
Votes are for sale from the pulpit.
None of this is off the Lord or sanctioned by Him in His word so why play the game.
Pay your taxes dont try to find some out.
Well thats my rant.
I do encourage you to pray for our country, our troops who are the greatest fighting force in the world, as well as our countries leadership.
Its time to turn off the TV and guys like Big Jim Dobson and get back on our knees and ask for Gods mercy on our land.

Here is a email I received with a opposing view but from a very dear lady I respect.
What do you think?
Peace
Tim

the email-

Hi,

I wanted to ask if you would please pray for our nation. I know we're getting close to the end times and there are so many people being mislead. I watched a commentary about a guy named David KUO who's writen a book pretty much demeaning the Christians of our day. He worked in governement and has complied a bunch of... lies... to make us, as Christians vote against anything of moral and value in Goverment. Actually, his exact words were... "Christians should fast for the nest couple years to pray and to stay out of any governmental affairs". I found it very saddening to hear his continued bashing on Bush and other prominent leaders of our nation. Now, I don't agree with everything our President does, everyone makes mistakes and has things we will not agree with in entirety. Still, we need to support those in office who are following the greatest leader in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I know a lot of people hate mixing "Religion" and politics, but I am one who believes we need to mix them thoroughly. We need to be aware of what is going on in our government, and as Chrisitans, we need to be involved in helping our nation, our children-the future leaders of our nation- to be strong and hopefully maintain some ethics and morality. If there is no God in our government, in our politics, how will we ever stay strong as a Christian nation? David KUO is only one of many authors putting materials out against us. He calls us weak and volnerable and completely easy to manipulate. In essence, we are pretty dumb. He is desperately trying to get all Christians to withdraw from any view or outcry on any issues over the next few years. His book, as well as others out there, claim we are nothing to our governent, that our needs and our desires are not important, that our vote is the only thing that they want. It is not true. I am very good friends with many political leaders, Democrat and Republican. I think our greatest problem is that we find so many things to bash each other about, we're defeating our purpose of trying to better America and each other. I know some people don't want anything to do with politics. If only we could find some common ground. Hearing both sides of the debates, I hear so many things about THE OTHER SIDE that are simply not true. If you are active in any party, please investigate for yourself the platform and the beliefs of each side. Each day we live, we need to side with Jesus and listen to what He says. Everyone has things to say. We need to weigh out the truth and what is important, and make this nation what is truly meant to be - A nation founded and grounded on Christian principles to be run by people who have a heart for Christ. Please take heed of all the false teaching out there. We often think of the Anti-Christ as a person. There is with Him a spirit of Anti-Christ as well, a spirit who would love for us to remove Christ and all things associated with Him. A spirit who would love for us to divide ourselves and argue among ourselves, eventually destroying ourselves without even knowing we are doing so. We need to unite with each other, to love each other and care for each other. Although we may not agree on everything with each other, let us decide to agree on one thing. That we are children of the Most High God. We are called acording to HIS purpose to serve and to love, to exercise wisdom and discernemnt, and reach out to all among us. Our very existence on this earth is meant to glorify HIM and HIS Word. While His Word is allowed, wherever His Word is allowed, let us agree to do that.

I pray you are doing well. You are in our hearts and prayers. Please keep Destiny and me in your prayers as well. Times are increasingly hard for us and we so want to be a blessing and find a way to live rather than just exist to fulfill our purpose on this earth.

Can I ask a question? Being an Australian I find your country to be so different from mine.

I was just wondering - when was it that America changed from being a country that helped those within the country - to become a country that says it's going to help the world in the name of God.

I was asking my hubby that question last night when I was thinking about the Bush rhetoric ... he always mentions God in some way, as if he has God on his side.

Did the idealogies on fixing the globe happen after World War 2?

Our politicians are far different from yours. But we do have a new party that is called 'Family First', which came out of a mega-church (AoG) and they have a dominionist attitude. Politicians are now starting to listen to them. This is the first time that any church philosophy has been given such weight.

I have always believed in separation of Church and State, but I fear that watching your country and its influence on other western countries, that that divide is slowly diminishing.

The interesting thing is that there seems to be a very influencial left wing group of Christians called 'The Red Letter Christians', I think they are going to be major contenders for any political party opposed to them. In fact I am thinking that the divide between left and right is fast disappearing.

Like you have said an athiest can stand for good moral principles which happen to fit in very nicely with a social gospel.

Anyway, I enjoyed this post and I am trying to wrap my head around major shifts that we see in the world today.

I do wait for Christ to come with His kingdom.

Thanks for your comments I very much hope to visit your beautiful country someday.
I agree with your comments and wonder what you think Christians Like Brian Huston from Hillsong affect Australia and its governement.
And if you think very similar things are going on in Australia with Hillsongs etc..
Ive played with Darlene Zscech and Rueben Morgan as well as Hillsongs here in the states.
Lovely people. Ruebens a great guitarist and Darlene has a really nice family as well. Here girls are just doll baby's.
The rest of Hillsongs as well were a great bunch.
I also played with a group called The Shire from Australia.
Everyone seemed to have their head on straight but I dont buy into the health and wealth gimmie gospel.
Do you find that a lot of your wealthy pastors also carry big clout with the governement.
I would be very interested in hearing what you think on that.
Im not sure when America first started the lets fix the world program.
But Im against it let every nation fix their own problems.
Who made America the worlds police?
I dont believe the mates that founded this country would agree with the turn we took.
I was against attacking Iraq since they did not attack us directly first.
But I do support and pray for our brave troops who are just doing their job.
I think out premptive strike on Iraq has turned into a huge mess.
Anyway thanks for your comments and God bless you and your family.
Peace
Tim

I think that mega-churches and politians have a huge influence on voters.

Houstens church is huge, and my brother in-law went there and was shocked at the preaching being very much health and wealth.

He said that all the new visitors (which he was one of many) were led up stairs to personally meet some church goers and to have tea and coffee and biscuits. They had waitresses serving, and every single one of those girls could have been models, drop dead gorgeous. Not one over weight or plain looking girl in sight. It made him feel really uncomfortable. My brother in-law is a teacher at a Christian school and went there for the year 12 break up.

He said it was really wierd.

Houston himself and his church is under investigation concerning taxes. They had been given a government grant of 315,000 to help with the indigineos people, but most of it went to paying staff, and only the tiniest amount(one particular year only six loans to Aborigines worth an average of $2856 each.)went to the intended people.

Hillsong also recently parted ways with two larger federal grants for indigenous business development, in one case because Indigenous Business Australia discontinued it, and in another because Hillsong made a late decision not to reapply for funding. You have to wonder why they did not reapply for funding, but if under investigations for previous funding then it becomes clearer.

Oh and this as-well:

When asked by a Sydney Morning Herald reporter why the church is so successful, Brian Houston, the male side of the team, replied, "We are scratching people where they are itching." That is right out of 2 Timothy 4:3, which is a warning of apostasy, of people who itch for a new kind of Christianity and of preachers will scratch this illicit itch. "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears."
