Purpose Driven is a New Religion
I posted this on my word press blog a couple weeks ago and Richard Abanes (unofficial spokesman for Rick Warren) picked up on it and even provided a link to it from another website in order to mock me I guess.
But I still state if you examine the purpose driven movement in compares to other religions and those that teach a different plan of salvation or a different jesus such as Mormonism and Catholicism.
Mormons preach another jesus plus adds to the Bible in other books such as the Book of Mormon.
The Catholic church teach a different plan of salvation than the rest of Christianity as well as holding the traditions of men on the same level as scripture.
The Purpose Driven Movement is a combination of both there by making it a movement or religion outside of Christianity.
Now I have no hate for Catholics or Mormons. I was raised Catholic and know what the Catholic church's magisterium teaches.
{By the way this is what the magisterium is ""The task of interpreting the Word of God authentically has been entrusted solely to the Magisterium of the Church, that is, to the Pope and to the bishops in communion with him"}
Look at the many article coming out of Africa on Rick and Kay Warren and purpose driven.
Notice where the focus is.
Is it on Jesus Christ or scripture?
Absolutely not.
Its focus on turning people toward Purpose Driven.
Examine the following quotes.
"Built around the tenets presented in Dr. Warren's best-selling book, The Purpose Driven Life, the government-sponsored campaign involves church services, study groups, newspaper advertisements and the distribution of hundreds of thousands of free copies of the book translated into Kinyarwanda."
My comments (Notice Bible's were not distributed but copies of Rick Warrens own book Purpose Driven Life. Where is the focus here? You decide.)
Quote
"The majority of the country was Catholic before the genocide. Many sought sanctuary in their churches when the killing started, only to be killed in their pews, sometimes betrayed by their clergy. (A priest was convicted last month for instructing killers on the best way to bulldoze a church containing 1,500 parishioners.)"
"In the aftermath, Catholics began looking elsewhere, spurring an increase in evangelical churches across the country. Indeed, congregations are springing up faster than churches can safely be built to house them -- Kigali city council recently closed nine churches for failing to meet basic building standards."
"People didn't lose their faith in God, but they did lose their denomination," Dr. Warren said. "They left the Catholic Church, but they joined a Baptist or Anglican or Pentecostal church. There has been rapid growth over the past 14 years."
My comment
(Notice that Warren holds the Catholic denomination on the same page as other Christian denominations. There has been many question from serious apologists of where Warren stands on Catholicism. This quote makes it very plain where Warren stands. This is error on Warren's part concerning the theology and doctrine taught by the Catholic Church. Even the pope would say we are not on the same page.
I believe the pope used the word anathema.
I provide the following quote "All Catholics are expected to worship the host (Eucharistic Adoration of the transformed wafer), and church leadership says it is anathema (to be accursed) to reject this teaching....

Rick Warren article source-

Notice in the article Jesus Christ is not mentioned. Now I know Rick didnt write the article but again the focus is not on Jesus so why mention Him anyway?
The focus is on Rick Warren and Purpose Driven.
Notice how this is Rwanda campaign is government sponsored.
What happens to the people who dont want to get aboard the Purpose Driven cho-cho- train?
The bottom line is Rwanda doesnt need purpose driven it needs Jesus Christ.
More to come

Acts 5:5, "And as he heard these words, Ananias fell down and breathed his last; and great fear came over all who heard of it."
"Is God seeker-friendly"????
What was going on in this church in the book of Acts? There was miracles and signs and wonders going on in this church. This is beyond a "light show" or a "rock band"!! This is beyond a skit or a drama!!! This is the real deal! And the "fear" in the church was that "unbelievers" would come in and they already knew that the Lord said that the devil would sow "tares" and the church was in danger of being leavened by the world!! So the wonder of it all had to be mitigated...with fear. In fact the fear had to be so powerful and so great, that it stopped nonchristians outside the door!
This is absolutely "upsidedown" from modern church growth stategy!!! They could really draw a crowd if they chose to! But there had to become such a "deadly" dread and fear that unbelievers wouldn't dare go in to the church! Acts 5, God Himself provides the "horror"!!! Read for yourself the story of Ananias and his wife Sapphira.
