God's word versus what the Emergent church teaches

First of all I want to state that what the Emerging church is doing is nothing new. Its what Paul and other church leaders faced at the very start of Christianity.
Its called Gnosticism.
I will go into Gnosticism in my next article in great detail.
The bottom line is The Emerging Church is Gnosticism repackaged plain and simple.

So what does the Gnostic/Emergent movement state and how does it compare to the word of God?

From Lighthouse Trails Research-

November 8, 2005 - Mark Oestreicher, president of Youth Specialties (an organization that officially partnered with mega Christian publisher Zondervan in 2003), has declared Christianity to be an eastern religion. Youth Specialties has been promoting eastern religion/New Age practices (yoga, labyrinths, contemplative prayer) into their national youth and pastor's conferences for some time now, but to our knowledge this is the first time the organization has publicly commented on this.
On October 27th, Mark Oestreicher (Marko) stated the following on his website in response to recent criticisms and complaints Youth Specialties has been receiving. We later learned that the same comments were being emailed to those who wrote to the organization with questions about their New Age leanings:On Eastern Religion and Christianity:"Christianity IS an eastern religion. It has all its roots in the East! It's a bit baffling to me that people lose sight of this, and insist on creating a false separation [see note below] between eastern religions and (apparently) western Christianity."

But the word of God states in Isaiah 2:5-6
"O House of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of the Lord.
For You have forsaken Your people, the House of Jacob, Because they are filled with eastern ways; They are soothsayers like the Philistines."

God rejected His own people because they adapted eastern ways. Many times Gods people were rebuked and even punished for adapting the ways foreign to Gods word.

The Emergent church and its leaders use R rated movies and secular heroes to make biblical points. They also encourage being in the world.

The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:22 "Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."
The Emergent Gnostics however encourage you to embrace youthful lust, cuss, drop the f bomb its ok. Its ok to have your cake and eat it to.
The Bible states
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new. - 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17
Now go and read the entire Chapter 8 of the book of Romans.

These are just a few comparisons between what biblical Christianity teaches and what the Gnostic/Emergent church teaches.
You will have to choose where you want to stand.
