This Is Rich
Here was the definition of mentor-
MENTOR - “A wise and trusted counselor or teacher.” “An individual who provides independent support and advice to enable the candidate to realize their full potential and help establish their career.” “The critical role and responsibility assumed by an experienced and wise educator who agrees to help, build a relationship with, and facilitate the professional growth of one or more proteges. Mentors are to be models of effective teaching and of a very visible desire to continue to grow professionally, every day, and throughout the career.” “A trusted counsellor or guide.” “Person who acts as an adviser to a learner, especially used in work-place learning environments. The activity is called mentoring.”
It has been asked why I tie Rick Warren in with Todd Bentley. Well they both share the same mentor and teacher which is C. Peter Wagner.
Rick listed C Peter Wagner as his mentor here-
Rick Warren wrote his doctoral dissertation at Fuller Seminary on his church growth ideas. His mentor was C. Peter Wagner! Here is a copy of the FirstSearch Dissertations Abstracts listing:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Title: NEW CHURCHES FOR A NEW GENERATION: CHURCH PLANTING TO REACH BABY BOOMERS. A CASE STUDY: THE SADDLEBACK VALLEY COMMUNITY CHURCH (CALIFORNIA)
Author(s): WARREN, RICHARD DUANE
Degree: D.MIN.
Year: 1993
Pages: 00413
Institution: FULLER THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, DOCTOR OF MINISTRY PROGRAM; 0790
Advisor: Mentor: C. PETER WAGNER
You can read more on Rick Warrens connection to C. Peter Wagner and other false teachers here http://www.letusreason.org/Popteac23.htm
Now it will be interesting to see if Richard Abanes will try to redefine the word mentor again since his pal Rick listed C. Peter Wagner as his mentor.
I'm sure though Abanes won't touch this though.
The same way he doesnt touch Warren's association with David (Paul) Yonggi Cho, Ken Blanchard and others that can't be easily explained away or spun.
And Richard complains when other's don't answer his questions.
Richard never answers the hard question's.
So thats kinda like the pot calling the kettle black.
Talk about a lack of discernment.
Peace
Tim
