From the "Ain't it ironic" Department
1 Peter 1:13-16 "Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be bought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, be holy, for I am holy,"
Ani't it ironic that the new Emergent rebels will want to adapt the cool ritual prayer started by the Desert Fathers but not want to strive for the same holiness the monks wanted.
The monks went through great lengths to purge themselves from the world even whipping the sin out of their bodies. They went through great lengths to separate themselves from the world even in isolation.
But the Emergent rebels just want a quicky God type experience without even copying the other ways of the monks.
Now again I think the monks ritual prayer was wrong even occult but they were seeking to be holy. Just in the wrong ways.
The Emergent church wants a quick spiritual experience just for the thrills but yet want their MTV, coarse language, immodest dress and want to stay conformed to the culture created by the ungodly. Rather than seeking after holiness.
Which ain't it ironic was the way of the monks.
These kids are just seeking a occult experience instead of transforming their minds and seeking after the mind of Christ.
It truly is a Harry Potter generation.
